Advanced Pipeline (ILI) Tool - Pressure Vessel 300bar


Scope

D3 were tasked by our long-term valued client to design a bespoke pressure vessel to house and integrate cell packs and electronics, with a design pressure of 300bar.

PTC Creo was utilised for the 3D modelling and drawings.

Solution

D3 designed the bespoke PV in-line with the required BS design codes to determine required shell thickness and a final verification was undertook with an FEA analysis.

The vessel was required to withstand a test pressure of 429bar and was made out of a high-spec aluminium alloy, with the benefit of high-strength and low weight.

Summary

D3 successfully tackled the challenge and provided our client with their desired outcome, a 300bar design pressure PV capable of safely withstanding pressures up to 429bar test pressure.
